Max Performer Review – Does it Work?

We rate Max Performer a 3.0 out of 5.0 as we are not certain in its ability to deliver on the claims stated in their marketing materials.  We choose ratings criteria that enable us to stick to facts.  For instance, is there clinical evidence that a product works or isn’t there?  Is there evidence of safety or isn’t there?  It’s important when giving product ratings to base them on fact as much as possible and try to minimize subjectivity.  Our overall “Product Score” is the average of the specific scores.

We’ll explain the ratings above using concrete reasons below:

Formula Quality

Many of the ingredients are commonly found in other men’s supplements, and individual studies on the separate ingredients conducted over the years have provided evidence that they can be effective.  So we are happy to give them kudos on their ingredients selection. 

However, the caveat, and it is a big one, is that this category is “Formula Quality,” i.e., the quality of the formula and not the ingredients.  That’s because there can be contra-indications between natural ingredients just like with different pharmaceuticals.  In addition, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration prefers studies on an entire product formula and not on the individual components – and for good reason.  Ingredients studies conducted at separate times by separate scientists will have different levels of reliability. 

Some factors are: was the study double-blind?  Randomized?  Placebo-controlled?  Conducted on animals or humans?  Conducted on a wide pool of humans or a small sample size?  Sourced from the exact same origin as the ingredients in the product?  Same dosage?  Healthy persons or persons with nutritional deficiencies or certain medical conditions?  Same age as the target population for the supplement? 

There are many other factors.  For that reason, it is important for a supplement manufacturer to have a study on the product, and Max Performer lacks a study.  Even though we like the ingredients, the rating here is based on Formula Quality, and that is an unknown with Max Performer. 

Doctor Endorsement & Clinical Evidence

We gave the product a 1.5 out of 5 rating in the “Doctor Endorsement” category because, well, Max Performer does not present evidence that a physician has endorsed it, however, the ingredients used do show evidence supported by some doctors.

For “Clinical Evidence,” we also give Max Performer a 2.5 out of 5 for the reason we discussed earlier.  They don’t present evidence that there is a clinical study on the product, however the ingredients chosen in their formulation do have some clinical evidence to back certain claims.

Long-Term Results & Customer Feedback

For Long-Term Results,” we rated the product a 2 out of 5 because, again, there is no clinical evidence of Max Performer results, short-term, medium-term, or long-term.  Despite that absence, we did give it 2 stars because the ingredients in the product have been shown, in individual studies of varying conditions, dosages, and quality, to have positive effects.

The rating for “Customer Reviews” is a 2.5 out of 5 because we can only find four testimonials for the product.  None of them are in handwriting.  Also, we could find no Amazon reviews for Max Performer.

Product Safety

The “Safety” rating is 3 out of 5.  There are ingredient studies with positive results, but there is no study on the safety of this product, and the possibility of contra-indications between different ingredients exists.  We also limit the stars to 3 because Max Performer makes a safety claim on its website that cannot be true: “100% safe and side effect free.”  This cannot be true because every ingredient, in this formula or in any other formula, will have side effects for some people.  They just might not have been reported to the company.  

If you look up the ingredients in Max Performer on a site like WebMD, you will see there are side effects.  That does not mean the product is unsafe.  It should be safe for most people, but no product is “100% safe and side effect free.”  Because this claim by Max Performer is false, we have decided to take that into account in our “Safety” rating.  The reason is that the claim could encourage people who have certain health conditions – including strong allergies to certain ingredients — to be less cautious and perhaps not consult with their doctors.

Some Other Points to Consider BEFORE You Buy

Some other important observations about the product can be made.  For instance, it appears to promise permanent penis enlargement.  Its website states that Max Performer “will cause the cells in your penis to split and replicate, encouraging lasting enlargement.”  Also, “Used daily, Max Performer can offer lasting improvements to the appearance of your penis,” and it “can cause the cells in your penis to naturally split and replicate (in order to accommodate this extra blood) resulting in increased cell mass that is added to the length and thickness of your penis.” 

Those claims are false.  Max Performer is based in the United Kingdom. The website of the United Kingdom National Health Service addresses claims like that. It quotes Professor Kevan Wylie, the former President of the World Association for Sexual Health, and Honorary Professor of Sexual Medicine & Psychiatry at the University of Sheffield.  Discussing products that “‘contain vitamins, minerals, herbs or hormones that claim to enlarge the penis,’” he says “‘Despite their impressive claims, there’s absolutely no clinical evidence that these products work…They’re a complete waste of time.’” 

We do not challenge the claims of Max Performer that the individual ingredients in the product are known to enhance erections and libido in studies of varying quality, but the apparent claim of permanent penis enlargement is important not just because it is false and tempts consumers to purchase a product with impossible promises.  It is also important because some might think that it says something about the credibility of the marketer. 

Lastly, it is good to see that Max Performer has a generous 100-day Guarantee policy.  On the other hand, it is not a no-questions-asked guarantee.  Under its “Money Back Guarantee Terms and Conditions,” it states that persons wishing to return the product must give “a report of your results” to the customer service agent.  The obligation to discuss results with a customer service rep could be embarrassing for some on the shy side and deter them from making the call.
